Is it a restriction to fiduswriter.com or is sharing via link simply not possible?

y “share by link” you mean that you just take the link fo the document and share that with someone else?
That’s not really possible, no. It’s not like we haven’t thought of that, but the problem is if users distribute such a link, potentially to thousands or millions, then under European law we may be seen as a content hosting site. And if that is the case, then we will also be made responsible for what users are hosting, respond to take-down notices, prevent users from using our site to promote nazi literature, etc. . For that reason we decided this is a bit too big for us.
